The isle of Mothia offers an opportunity for a walk amid the wonders of its vegetation and archaeology. The isle, of Phoenician origins, can be exclusively visited on foot: it is the largest among the islets off the coast of Marsala, and together form a lagoon with evocative colours. It is connected to the mainland by boats: the pier is located close to the salt pans of Marsala. Enthusiasts of archaeology can visit the Whitaker Museum, where the statue of “the Youth” is preserved, a piece of the classical period found during excavations in the late 1970s.
